    The growth of fraud and financial crime is characterised by increasing complexity and diversification, It affects private and public sectors, crosses borders, and varies in scale and significance. This new MSc Management of Fraud Investigation course will give you an in-depth understanding of the techniques, practices, methodologies and application of the management of fraud investigations.

    This course has been designed in collaboration with dg Anti-Fraud Consultants (DG) – a professional fraud investigative agency of UK – and draws upon their high-quality specialist counter-fraud expertise to ensure you develop advanced specialist investigative knowledge that meets professional and industry standards.

    This course is specifically designed for those working in, or seeking to work in, any Private or Government organisation susceptible to fraud and needing a mechanism to prevent it and/or investigate it.

    What you will study

    This course aims to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the techniques, practices, methodologies and application of the management of fraud investigations.

    You’ll gain a critical awareness of current legal and ethical issues and developments in the management of fraud investigations and develop your investigative expertise against the professional and industry standards.

    During this postgraduate course you’ll study modules that adopt an explicitly global or international perspective on a range of law enforcement and criminological issues.

    Core Modules

    Principles of Fraud Investigation

    The module examines the statutes, case law and professional practices that underpin the investigation of fraud in a global context.

    Proceeds of Crime and Financial Investigation

    Develop your understanding of how criminal proceeds are obtained and disseminated and how international organisations tackle money laundering.

    Fraud Investigation Interviewing

    Explore legal and theoretical perspectives to further develop the advanced skills of interviewing suspects, witnesses and victims in fraud investigation cases.

    Research Methods

    This module will see you learn about the different approaches to research, including issues such as ethics, accessing or gathering data, data analysis and how to draw valid conclusions from your data.

    Capstone Project

    During this module, you’ll be paired with an academic supervisor who will help you complete research that generates new evidence and insight on a topic of your choice.

    How you are taught

    The course is delivered on a blended learning platform, with learning taking place both within a classroom environment and through our dedicated online platform. Teaching methods will include, lecturers, group workshops, problem-based learning, guided independent study and a Capstone Project.

    Assessment methods

    Assessment on the course involve written assessments, report writing, presentations and group work. All modules will have at least one formative assessment, which will not count towards your final grade, these assessments will give you the opportunity to get feedback to help improve your work.

    To encourage and facilitate independent learning the course will take full advantage of NTU’s online workspace (NOW).

    Teaching on the course is drawn directly from our research active staff who can help you understand and evaluate cutting-edge work in this field, as well as train you to produce your own research. We also have close working partnerships with leading authorities from international law enforcement policy and practice. This research and collaboration feeds directly into the course allowing you to learn about the latest issues in this field from world-renowned experts.
