A post-graduate from the prestigious Oberoi School of Hotel Management (now known as Oberoi Center for Learning and Development – OCLD), Sangeeta Ranjit has an experience of 32 years in the hospitality sector with more than two decades dedicated to grooming the youth for this industry.
She joined the Oberoi Group of Hotels and worked at The Oberoi New Delhi, The Oberoi Mumbai and The Oberoi Towers, Trident Chennai, and then moved to the IHG Group as Executive Housekeeper at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Khajuraho.
Her first step into hospitality education was in the year 1998 when she joined the Merit Swiss Asian School of Hotel Management, Ooty and Jalandhar as a faculty member. In 2002 she was the part of the founding core leadership of the College of Hospitality & Tourism (CHAT) Delhi.
In 2003, she joined Institute of Advanced Management (IAM Group) at Kolkata and was Faculty member and Manager Corporate Communications, and the next year she became the Regional Director – North India Operations of IAM.
In 2006 she was promoted as the Founder Director of the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Gurgaon, and in 2010 she went on to set-up IIHM’s Delhi campus.
In 2011, she set up her own Hotel Management College School of Skills Development in Hospitality at Gurgaon (Delhi NCR). The College has a unique combination of skill development programs, diplomas and International Hospitality Degree programs, having partnership with American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI USA), Edinburgh Napier University Scotland UK, and Quality College Australia.
Under her leadership, the institute has grown by leaps and bounds, and has been awarded Best Training Partner of the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
So far, the institute has trained and placed more than 10,000 youth for Hospitality, Retail, and Healthcare sectors.
Having a strong passion to groom students for the hospitality industry coupled with a strong partnership with leading luxury brands like Marriott Hotels, Hilton, Hyatt, The Leela, Accor, The Oberoi, Taj Hotels, ITC and all the luxury hospitality brands, has helped the institute with a placement record of 100%
In 2013, Sangeeta started a public charitable trust, Visan Foundation which works for the underprivileged section of the society – women, children and unemployed youth of the through various Government & CSR programs in Healthcare, Entrepreneurship, School Education and other Employment Linked programs.
For these initiatives she has been bestowed with many accolades and appreciations from Delhi Police, Haryana Police, and many corporate houses.
Business Standard and other magazines featured her profile on Women’s Day, while her students from Northeast were selected to interact with the Prime Minister and with other Ministers on Women’s Day.
To spread her expertise to other fields of management along with the hospitality industry, Sangeeta has now joined hands with DIIS as Director, where she would be managing the delivery of all courses including HM, Cruiselines, Aviation as well as BBA, MBA and DBA.
With her partnership, DIIS looks forward to create such Centers of Excellence for the Hospitality and Management sectors in all parts of India and Abroad.
