The cruiseline offers a large variety of menu choices for thousands of guests which makes it one of the largest department for service the guest round the clock. The food production department has to churn out the menu and it is a round the clock operation without a break.

For those aspiring to join the Cruiseline industry they should have the following:
- Domain knowledge and skills in Food & Beverage Service department
- Must have 1-2 years of experience in the 5-star hotel industry
- Should have the STCW training certificate

Module 1: Assist in kitchen operations and food preparation (continental cuisine)
Module 2: Use Tandoor for preparing food
Module 3: Communicate effectively and maintain service standards
Module 4: Maintain organisational confidentiality and respect guests ‘privacy
Module 5: Follow Health, Hygiene and Safety practices

STCW: Standards of Training, Certification and Watch Keeping
Apart from the above specialisation course, the students have to complete the 16 days STCW Training course (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping). This has to be completed additionally from authorised DG shipping center.
The 16 days certification course offers training in coping with emergencies on board, including firefighting and preventing fires, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, and the various personal and social responsibilities you must adhere to while living and working on board.
An STCW certificate is a prerequisite to joining the cruise line, and there are refresher courses to keep your certificates updated with the latest requirements every five years.
